ABOUT WEST

WHO ARE WE?
Founded in 1938, West Newport Cricket Club has been a proud member of the
local community for over 80 years. From juniors, to seniors, to women’s teams,
we have had a storied history of producing cricketing talent and success – both
on and off the field.
Generations of cricketers have represented the Lions over our 81-year history
and therefore West Newport Cricket Club prides itself on being more than just a
cricketing establishment, but rather a family.

OUR PURPOSE
Our purpose is to promote the game of cricket and its benefits for all participants
no matter their age or skill level within our local community and beyond.
Our culture of community, inclusion and camaraderie means that anyone that
walks into the West Newport clubhouse is welcomed with open arms, as we
meet each weekend to not only play the game, we love but foster a welcoming,
inclusive and multicultural environment.

West Newport Cricket Club fields 3 senior teams in 2 different competitions,
with our first eleven winning the premiership in the VTCA 3rd division last season
earning us promotion to division 2. As a club we have a proud history of success
